Joanna Parisi, Italian American soprano, is known across four continents for her highly acclaimed interpretations of operatic roles. In 2014 she sang Floria Tosca throughout four theaters in Switzerland featured on Swiss television, as well as Leonora in Il trovatore at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City in both the 2014 and 2013 seasons. In 2014 she also sang Micaëla in Carmen at Teatro Amazonas in Brazil during the World Cup. She sang Elisabetta di Valois in Don Carlo to great success in Neuchâtel and Fribourg, Switzerland, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at Teatro Solis with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Montevideo. She also sang in concert in Beijing, China at the National Center of the Performing Arts conducted by Plácido Domingo for Operalia. She has recorded Verdi's Compasizioni da Camera in Vienna, Austria released by Capriccio Records.
She sang Verdi's I due Foscari (Lucrezia) and Tosca with the Budapest Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Riccardo Frizza. She was the soprano soloist of the Verdi Requiem with the Orchestre Symphonique du Jura, Switzerland as well as the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City in 2013.
Joanna made her professional opera debut as the title role of Puccini's Tosca in Central Park, New York City for an estimated audience of 10,000 under the baton of Vincent La Selva. She has since performed Abigaille in Verdi's Nabucco in Union Square-Washington Irving Auditorium, and the title role of Aida in Central Park with the Orchestra of New York Grand Opera.
She also sang Beethoven's 9th Symphony at Carnegie Hall in the Stern Auditorium, Andrea Chenier(Maddalena) in concert in the Carnegie Hall towers, and Verdi and verismo recitals in the Weill recital hall.
She sang the Puccini heroines Tosca and Mimi in La boheme at the Enrico Fermi Italian Cultural Center in New York, and Madama Butterfly in concert for the Italian American organization, Unico at the Bardavon Opera House.
She has received awards and recognition from prestigious opera and musical organizations including Operalia, Metropolitan Opera National Council, Opera Index, and Shreveport Opera.
Joanna Parisi was born in New York of Italian heritage and is a citizen of both United States and Italy (L'Aquila, Abruzzo). Joanna graduated with honors from The Conservatory of Music at Purchase, State University of New York. She also holds degrees with high honors in Journalism and Public Relations. She further enriched her opera studies in the opera workshop of The Juilliard School and at the Renata Scotto Opera Academy, as well as graduate studies in classical music at Hunter College (City University of NY).
